Snicket Labs today announces an integration with Mimir, the cloud media production and collaboration platform. The integration showcases how Snicket Labs’ version intelligence solution, The Lab, works with Mimir, enabling broadcasters, newsrooms and content owners to identify every version of an asset, establish its source and act on that information without leaving the platform.
Mimir is a cloud media production and collaboration platform that turns scattered media into searchable, production-ready content. Mimir doesn’t just store your media. It helps you understand, explore, and act on it.
It combines cloud media management with AI-generated transcripts, scene detection, and intelligent search. Browser-based editing, live content workflows, and mobile contribution through the Mimir mobile app help you put that media to work.
Snicket Labs builds content intelligence software for organisations that create, store or distribute video. Using proprietary fingerprinting technology, it identifies duplicate and near-duplicate content at scale, from exact copies to complex derivative versions, regardless of format, duration or encoding. Its version intelligence solution, The Lab, is designed to tackle ‘versionitis’, the accumulation of multiple versions of the same content across systems. By mapping every version to its source, The Lab helps media organisations reduce storage and operational costs while retaining full visibility and control across their media libraries.
“Every media organisation we speak to is paying to store, search and process the same content many times over, and most cannot see it happening. We call this ‘Versionitis’, and the faster teams produce, the worse it gets. Mimir already makes content fast to find and use. With The Lab built in, teams can also see which version is the right one, where it came from and what they no longer need to keep. It is the difference between having a library and being in control of one.”
Nicholas Pearce, CRO, Snicket Labs
Through the integration, The Lab presents related assets in Mimir as connected groups rather than isolated files, with the source asset identified and each version mapped to it. Users can establish provenance at the point of search, select the correct asset without manual comparison and identify redundant material for removal. As The Lab is storage and platform agnostic, the same intelligence extends across an organisation’s wider storage estate, without migrating media or altering existing infrastructure.
The result is faster, more accurate retrieval, tighter control of inventory and lower storage costs. Editors and producers find the right version first time, media managers remove redundant copies with confidence, and every decision about what to keep is backed by evidence rather than assumption.
“Media libraries should become more valuable as they grow, not harder to use. Too often, teams spend time recreating work or storing more content because they don’t have a clear picture of what they already hold. Working with Snicket Labs is about helping our customers get more from that investment and keeping their attention on production rather than housekeeping.”
Kristian Kim Eikeland, EVP Strategic Initiatives, Fonn Group.
